Sleep Supplement Blends: What the Label Does and Does Not Show

A practical checklist for sleep formulas: identify each ingredient, disclosed amount, serving size, and what a proprietary blend keeps unknown.

Sleep products can combine melatonin, minerals, botanicals, amino acids, or other ingredients. A blend name is not a substitute for the amounts declared in Supplement Facts.

Build a disclosure table

List every ingredient, its amount per serving when given, and the unit. FDA labeling rules allow a proprietary blend to show a total blend amount while listing included ingredients without each individual amount. Mark those component amounts unknown; do not divide the blend evenly or infer quantities from ingredient order.

Compare the complete formula

Record the number of units per serving, servings per container, other ingredients, warnings, and package price. If individual amounts are missing, a price per ingredient or active amount cannot be calculated. A broad “calm” or “night” claim does not establish that two blends are equivalent. This guide is about reading listings, not deciding whether to use a sleep product.
