A practical online-shopping checklist for the manufacturer, complete label, seller identity, product claims, and current package details.

An online listing can be accurate, incomplete, or out of date. Before comparing price, make sure the page identifies the product and provides enough label detail to evaluate what is being sold.

Confirm who sells and makes the product

Record the retailer or marketplace seller separately from the manufacturer, packer, or distributor named on the label. Check that the package name, size, formula, and product images match the manufacturer’s current information. Look for a domestic contact address or phone number listed on the label for supplement questions or serious adverse-event reports.

Review the claims and package data

Read Supplement Facts, Other Ingredients, serving size, net contents, warnings, and expiry or lot information where shown. Treat disease-treatment promises, missing ingredient amounts, and a seller’s “FDA-approved supplement” claim as reasons to verify details with the manufacturer and FDA information. A platform badge or retailer name does not establish product approval.

Frequently asked questions

Does a marketplace’s product page replace the label?

No. Use a clear image of the current package and confirm uncertain fields with the manufacturer.

Can I rely on a seller badge as product testing?

Only if the badge identifies a verifiable program and the exact product appears in the certifier’s records.
