Omega-3 Triglyceride vs Ethyl Ester: Read the Label First
Understand how product-form wording fits into an omega-3 comparison, while keeping EPA+DHA amounts, servings, and price visible.By Suppscan Editorial Team · Last checked October 4, 2026Understand how product-form wording fits into an omega-3 comparison, while keeping EPA+DHA amounts, servings, and price visible.
Omega-3 oils can be presented in different chemical forms, including triglycerides and ethyl esters. A form claim is a label field; it should not replace the declared EPA and DHA quantities in a product comparison.
Check the exact form and fatty-acid amounts
Copy the complete wording from the ingredient list or manufacturer’s product sheet. Then record total fish oil, EPA, DHA, and the serving size as distinct fields. If a listing says “re-esterified triglyceride” or uses another technical phrase, preserve that exact wording rather than simplifying it to “better absorbed.”
Keep evidence and price units separate
Calculate cost per 1,000 mg EPA+DHA only when both amounts and serving count are clear. The calculation compares disclosed price and content; it does not show that two formulations are interchangeable or that one is suitable for a particular person. Treat unsubstantiated superiority language as a claim to verify, not as a measured value.
Frequently asked questions
Does “triglyceride form” mean more EPA+DHA per capsule?
Not by itself. Compare the separately declared EPA and DHA amounts per labeled serving.
Can I use form name as a quality score?
No. Record the form, label data, and any independently verifiable certification separately.
