Protein Powder Price per 100 g of Protein: A Fair Formula

Compare protein powders by the amount of protein in the package, not just by tub weight, scoop size, or the shelf price.

A large tub is not automatically a better value: net powder weight includes flavorings and other ingredients, while the protein amount is stated separately. This guide uses only quantities the package declares.

Calculate total declared protein

Multiply protein grams per serving by servings per container. If a label declares 24 g per serving and 25 servings, the package contains 600 g of declared protein for comparison purposes. Do not substitute the scoop’s powder weight for the protein line.

Normalize the package price

Divide the current package price by total declared protein and multiply by 100. For a $30 package with 600 g declared protein, $30 ÷ 600 × 100 = $5 per 100 g of protein. This is a unit-price metric, not a measure of quality, digestibility, taste, or personal suitability.

Keep shipping and verified discounts separate from the package price, and compare products in the same currency. If serving count or protein grams are missing, leave the normalized value blank rather than estimating from a marketing panel.
