Find the comparable numbers
- Record EPA in milligrams per stated serving.
- Record DHA in milligrams per stated serving.
- Add EPA and DHA, then note servings per container.
- Compare package price per 1,000 mg of declared EPA plus DHA.
Total fish-oil weight and EPA-plus-DHA weight are different fields. If EPA or DHA is not disclosed, leave that comparison value unknown rather than estimating it.
An illustrative calculation
A $30 bottle with 60 servings containing 500 mg EPA and 300 mg DHA per serving provides 48,000 mg of declared EPA plus DHA. The label arithmetic is $30 ÷ 48 × 1,000 = $0.63 per 1,000 mg. This is an example for comparing labels, not nutrition advice or a live price.
