Protein Powder Price Per Serving: How to Compare Value

A clear method for separating container price, price per serving, and price per declared protein.By Suppscan Editorial Team · Last checked September 22, 2026

A clear method for separating container price, price per serving, and price per declared protein.

Supplement labels and measuring tools used for a proteins comparison
Compare the declared amount, serving information, and one common price unit.

Two useful price calculations

Divide the package price by stated servings for cost per serving. To compare the protein itself, multiply protein grams per serving by total servings, divide the price by that total, and multiply by 100. Both figures are useful: the first describes the listed serving, while the second puts different serving sizes on one unit.

Build the price denominator

Start with the current package price, then use the label’s stated servings or declared active amount to create one transparent denominator. If either side of the calculation is missing, report package price only rather than inventing a normalized value.

The comparison unit for this category is one stated serving or the category-specific declared amount.

What this guide compares

Read the product label before comparing a headline claim. This guide focuses on package price divided by stated servings, then price per 100 g of declared protein. Use the stated numbers and leave any undisclosed value unknown.

How to compare the same unit

For a worked example only, a $40 package with 25 stated servings and 20 g of declared protein per serving contains 500 g of declared protein. Its cost is $1.60 per serving and $8 per 100 g of declared protein. These are calculations, not live retailer prices or nutrition advice.

Keep price and formulation separate

A package price is a useful starting point, but it does not describe the full formula. Compare the ingredient information and package size first, then use one common calculation to make the cost easier to understand.

Frequently asked questions

What should I compare first?

Start with the declared active amount and serving information. A front-label phrase cannot replace the values in the product facts panel.

Does this page rank products?

No. It explains a comparison method and links to current catalog data rather than claiming a permanent winner.
